Hello, and congratulations on being the first person to post something on this forum that wasn't an advertisement!
I don't imagine that you expect me to give detailed answers to your 15 objections, and I certainly have no intention of doing so. But I ask myself the question, "Who is it that's writing this?" My suspicion is that it's either:
a) Someone who has tried to walk the journey of faith and come to grief at some point, and ended up disillusioned and perhaps resentful, but still holds out a flickering flame of hope that all may not be lost, or
b) Someone cynically trying to trip me up by posing objections that no answer will satisfy.
If you are in category (a), then I'm happy to engage with you on this forum.
If you are in category (b), then I have better things to do with my time as, I assume, have you, and we'll call it a day.
However, I'll present an overview of an answer to your 15 points, and wait to see if you respond:
Did God ever promise anyone that life would be easy, that everything would always work out right, and that there would never be any serious mishaps?
Did God ever promise a rose garden with fragrant petals and no thorns? And did the thorns never cause pain or serious injury?
The only two people who enjoyed life without thorns were Adam and Eve - and even for them it was short-lived, because they did the very thing that God warned them not to do.
They invited evil into a world which was initially 'very good' (Genesis 1:31), but now became full of thorns and thistles (Genesis 3:17-19).
For some reason, people who have never read the Bible think that Christians believe in the thornless rose garden and have no conception of pain, failure, grief, loss, disappointment, betrayal, and all of the other evils in the world. And yet this is the very subject matter of the Bible. The Bible tells us WHY this came about and HOW to deal with it - not by trying to pull up all the weeds (Matthew 13:24-30), but by reversing the error that Adam made when he disobeyed God's command.
Why did Adam disobey? Because he did not BELIEVE God. He did not TRUST Him.
What does God require of man? Simply this: to TRUST and OBEY.
Adam did the opposite of what he should have done. God asks us to do the opposite of what Adam did.
It's simple. It's straightforward. And anyone who has done it with a humble and honest heart will tell you that it simply works.
Did they all live happily ever after?
No. Some were slaughtered by Islamic fundamentalists; some were imprisoned by atheistic Communists; some were cancelled by over-zealous Humanists; some had to struggle with illness or poverty or bereavement; some lived ordinary lives like everyone else around them; and some turned the world upside down and saw thousands, even millions, coming to faith in Christ and living victoriously from that moment onwards.
Paul says, "So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day" (2 Corinthians 4:16).
Where do you stand on this?
Are you a time-waster who just wants to mock, or are you a seeker who just wants to get on the right track?
Only you know the answer to that question - only you and God, of course.
